About Katryn:
While in college, I took my first yoga class; it was love at first pose. Holding a posture, learning to breathe fully and to be present in the moment connected me to myself in a deep way. I felt, as many do when they practice yoga, that I had come home to myself. It became a passion for me and I wanted to learn as much as possible about yoga, the physical body, and the workings of the mind and consciousness. I went on to get my professional level yoga teacher certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I then received my Masters of Education from Springfield College in Health Promotion and Wellness, with a specialty in Exercise Physiology. Following this, I pursued my C.A.G.S. in Public Health from Harvard University Extension School. After my studies, I began teaching yoga. During these years of teaching (20+), I trained, practiced, and studied extensively: yogic philosophy/psychology, Buddhism, meditation, and the chakra system. I received certifications in Thai Massage, Danskinetics, and Contact Yoga. I also worked as a faculty assistant at Kripalu, assisting some renowned teachers with their programs. While there I was privileged to be part of progressive and innovative teachings. This combination of work, education and direct experience led me to massage therapy. Touch can be incredibly healing and is one of the most basic forms of communication, one that we all understand at a deep physical and soul level. It brought all of my work of body, mind, and spirit together. When giving a massage I try to connect both technical and energetic principles. And coming from this place of connection to my spirit, I can tap into the clients needs and provide a deep experience of transformation and healing.
